While building this website, I spent most of my time working on the technology and not the design. I am a backend developer after all. 😉 I've never been happy with the design either and that's why I created an initial mockup of a new design for this website.

It's only a first mockup, of one of the more simple pages on this site, but this is an idea of what the new design will look like.

The colors are partially based on the 'Dark' theme of Visual Studio:

Aside from that, the biggest difference is the new panel on the left that will be shown on all pages. I'll use it for information and links about myself. The link to the contact form will also be moved from the header to the left panel (envelope icon). I'll also place my picture here. So every breath you take and every move you make... I'll be watching you!

Other than that I'll just have to try and see what does and doesn't work and how I can keep everything responsive. There probably won't be any functional changes, although I have many ideas about that as well.

But it will take some time before I start working on this. For the next six months I'll be busy working on my final project for my bachelor's degree. More about that in a later blogpost.
